Hi.
I’m not Bill.
Bill is, of course, a synonym for someone who wants to be a writer. The problem: Bill never writes. So, not a writer.
I got Bill from Gareth L. Powell’s book About Writing.
You see, while I’m not that Bill, I’m another Bill. I’m the Bill who writes and writes, but quits when the story is about 2/3 finished. Thus I have three novels, some novellas, and short stories at their 2/3 stages sitting around, gathering the equivalent of binary dust.
I like Bill as a person. I think his ideas are terrific. And I wish he would write them down instead of talking about them.
About Writing, Gareth L. Powell
Leaning back in the warm and fuzzy felling that, no, I’m not that Bill, is deceptive. I’m the more dangerous Bill. I can and do write. This is what this space is for, to finish something in writing.
Welcome to the idea of not being Bill anymore, the space of Bill No More.
